Dr. Smith, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, and Virginia native, discovered his passion for surgery during a general practice residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was drawn to the complexity of surgical cases and their impact on patients’ lives. After seeing the transformation and positive impact that surgery can have on a patient’s life, Dr. Smith decided to pursue the speciality of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

His training included experience at several renowned institutions such as Georgetown – Washington Hospital Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and Children’s National Hospital, among others.

At Finch Oral & Facial Surgery, Dr. Smith offers advanced care in wisdom teeth removal, dental implant surgery, bone grafting, and corrective jaw surgery. His training in anesthesia allows him to perform many of these procedures comfortably in the office without hospitalization.

Dr. Smith’s commitment to patient care extends beyond his practice; he holds clinical privileges at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where he treats complex cases and trains residents in the latest oral and maxillofacial surgical techniques, ensuring the highest standards of care.

Dr. Smith also has a passion for giving back to the community, whether through volunteering with the Special Olympics, participating in mission trips, or volunteering his time in free dental clinics. He looks forward to finding even more ways to contribute to the Winchester area.
